Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is a popular restoration method to enhance the aesthetics of your smile in which a tooth-colored resin is bonded to a tooth and cured with ultraviolet light. Faster and cheaper than veneers or crowns, dental bonding is perfect to correct cracks or gaps in teeth, cover up discolored teeth, use as filling after a cavity has been removed, or for other small cosmetic improvements. Bonding can be done in just one visit to our Plano dentist office. Since bonding typically doesn’t last as long as other forms of restorations and is less resistant to stains, it is used more often for small cosmetic touchups rather than major procedures.
How it’s done.
Dr. Kasiri and his team at Alexander Dental in Plano and McKinney first determine exactly what color shade your teeth are in order to properly select the right resin for natural blending. Then, your Plano dentist will prepare your tooth by roughening the surface and applying a liquid conditioner. This helps the bonding material adhere easier. Next, Dr. Kasiri applies resin to your tooth and cures it in place with an ultraviolet light. To finish the process, the team shapes and polishes the resin for a good fit. This entire process only takes between 30 and 60 minutes.
